Mulled wine is ideal for New Year’s Eve if you decide to spend it outdoors. Let’s make this intoxicating drink more festive: instead of wine, we will take apple cider as a basis and add to it the sweet symbol of the New Year – tangerines.
Ingredients:
1 l semi-dry apple cider
2 large juicy tangerines
2-3 cm fresh ginger root
60 g brown sugar
1 cinnamon stick
3-5 carnation buds
1 anise star
4-6 long cinnamon sticks for garnish
Instruction:
1. Cut the zest from 1 tangerine. Break the cinnamon stick into several pieces. Squeeze the juice out of the tangerines. Peel and coarsely chop the ginger.
2. Pour 200 ml of cider into a saucepan with a thick bottom. Add sugar, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, star anise, and zest. Bring to a boil and simmer over medium heat until syrupy.
3. Reduce heat. Pour in the remaining cider and tangerine juice. Bring to a low boil and immediately remove from heat. Leave it on for 10-12 minutes. Strain into mulled wine glasses. Serve warm, garnished with cinnamon.

Ooh this sounds good! I love the mulling spices but never thought about making it myself with fresh ingredients. And using apple cider instead of wine is also a great idea, thanks for sharing!
